Eastbourne Streetscape
We prepared a public realm strategy for Eastbourne’s Devonshire Ward. The strategy provides a guiding vision to improve connections between the seafront and Seaside Road to capitalise on the benefits of its position between Marine Parade and the town centre. The study created three hubs which join the seafront to the road and provide greater natural flow and permeability. The existing narrow pavements, parking issues and general street clutter which negatively impact on local shops and residents are improved with a comprehensive rethink on the streetscape. New urban pocket spaces, highways and parking enhancements and a new clarity in a selection of high quality materials and furniture provides a long term framework for the delivery of phased improvements. Immediately following the design guidance we designed the detail and implementation for one of themain public space hubs opposite the pier. We also prepared a guiding masterplan and detailed design for Princes Park. We saw this project all the way through to construction.
