Peacehaven Big Parks

The multi-award-winning Big Parks Project saw Allen Scott leading an in-depth consultative approach in the development of a masterplan and detail design of this brand-new park.

Embracing a community-led process has resulted in the creation of a very popular and much-loved park, including the construction of a state-of-the-art skatepark; two large natural playgrounds; a new café; the redevelopment of the community hub building; extensive wildflower seeding and indigenous landscaping; and the start of a community orchard.

Much care was taken to make the park as environmentally conscious as possible and traditional materials and methods were used when constructing the natural playgrounds. Among other awards, The Big Park was highly commended by Sussex Heritage Trust in the Public and Community Section, with judges saying they were impressed to see a project primarily funded by development contributions providing such fantastic facilities and a sustainable hub for the community.
