A contemporary intervention within a traditional park aimed at breathing new life into the seafront and attracting a more diverse visitor. The park was re-modeled to provide a new entrance connected to the beach promenade, a ‘grand axis’ public space, enhanced park hub and lake, and refurbishment of the cafe building with lake-side terracing.
The enhancements are the result of an initial consultative Development Plan prepared for the park by Allen Scott which sought to raise the profile of the park, engage with the community and Friends Group and provide a strategy for obtaining Coastal Community Funding. Once the bold approach was agreed we worked to a tight capital budget and future maintenance requirements to design and deliver the project through to successful completion.
