The Water Gardens are a classic 1950's design by Dame Sylvia, one of her jewels within the wider Harlow New Town. A formal arrangement of cobbled banks and cascades the water pools were created from semi-natural watercress beds and later featured the 1970's sculpture 'Pisces' by Jessie Watkins. Falling into disrepair, overgrown and prone to flooding, Allen Scott led a comprehensive restoration project involving de-silting, vegetation clearance, renewal of walls, steps and paths, drainage, sculpture repairs, planting and bespoke era furniture, interpretation and signage.
