The multi-award winning Big Parks Project saw Allen Scott leading an in-depth consultative approach in the development of masterplan options and detail design of this brand new park. Embracing the community-led process resulted in a very popular and much loved park including the construction of a state of the art skatepark, two large natural playgrounds (see our Play Projects), a new cafe, the redevelopment of the community hub building, extensive wildflower seeding and indigenous landscaping and the start of the community orchard. Much care was taken to make the park as environmentally friendly as possible and to use traditional materials and methods when constructing the natural playgrounds. Among other awards The Big Park was highly commended by Sussex Heritage Trust in the Public and Community Section, the judges saying they were impressed to see a project primarily funded by development contributions providing such fantastic facilities and a sustainable hub for the community.
