Pellant Road Estate is council owned comprising two large tower blocks, low rise apartment blocks, communal external spaces, a concrete podium deck, underground garages and a sunken ball court. The estate suffers from anti social behavior, crime, a lack of character, poor legibility and has very little community pride and ownership.
As part of an £8 million regeneration project, Allen Scott worked with the residents to rationalise and improve the open spaces to improve quality, usability, safety and appearance. Bold recommendations included demolishing areas of existing podium and garages to be replaced with permeable surfaces, vegetated swales (SuDs) and surface car parking with spoil used to fill in the sunken ball court making it more attractive and usable.
