Initially an EEDA and CABE sponsored project to develop a landscape strategy to cope with the increasing leisure and recreation demands of the planned urban extension to the north of the town Allen Scott has continued to take forward various aspects of the strategy. The approach stitched together existing programmes and initiatives, by the Council, Widlife trust and volunteer groups, with additional green links and localised projects to develop a series of inter-related enhancement and improvements. Together these increase the capacity of underused areas, extend the access rights and increase the biodiversity value of the open spaces and capture the active support of landowners, new and existing residents in the care and use of their environment.
