Mote Park is a 440 acre multi-use Listed public park in Maidstone and part of a wider project to deliver economic stability for parks and open spaces. Allen Scott prepared a spatial framework and feasibility study for an enhanced leisure and recreation hub followed by detail design and support. The approach is founded on rigorous analysis, community needs and research into successful commercial operations to broaden the visitor profile and assist in maximising income. After testing scenarios and establishing design principles, planning permission was granted for the new ‘pay for play’ adventure zone with a 32ft Sky Trail, Climbing Wall, off-roading Segway Terrain and 9 holes of Dino Mini Golf. Allen Scott continue to be involved in the construction phases of this £4.2 million project including the new adventure zone, a destination play space, a concrete skatepark facility and additional pay and display car parking. Phase Two comprising a new visitor centre and destination cafe is starting construction in 2020.
