Crawters Brook
Originally an overgrown and inaccessible flood storage basin, Crawters Brook is now highly valued as one of the only public open spaces within Manor Royal Business District in Crawley. It provides an attractive frontage to the main road, as well as a natural oasis of bluebell woodland, hazel and alder coppice, with feature boardwalk promontaries protruding over the naturalised attenuation basin.
A wide range of activities take place here, including youth and business volunteering, outdoor learning, as well as other forms of recreation such as jogging and cycling, or simply as a spot for a lunchtime picnic and stroll.
Crawters Brook is being continually shaped by volunteers and the community, and Allen Scott is working with the BID on future plans for a ‘lost gallery’, with sculptural pieces of artwork to be discovered around the site.
