Concrete House

This Grade II Listed house, constructed to showcase Victorian technological innovator Charles Drakes’s patent ‘Concrete Builder’ in 1873, is an early landmark in the use of exposed concrete in architecture pointing the way to the modern movement.

It was rescued from near collapse by a partnership between Southwark Council and the Heritage of London Trust Operations Limited, with an end sale to Hexagon Housing Association, creating five affordable flats for local people.
