wat tyler country park

Allen Scott designed and implemented proposals that have opened up and re-integrated large areas of this park that was formerly an explosives testing site and is now a designated SSSI for its invertebrate and herpetofauna interest and home to the region’s RSPB centre and reserve. As part of a £1.2m HLF project, historic blast mounds and nitro-mixing sheds have been uncovered and three new major spaces have been created as ‘visitor hubs’. These hubs, the main entrance, the motorboat museum and the ‘village green’, adjacent to a new visitor centre, encourage greater numbers and penetration of visitors through the park which has become a valued resource for its heritage, amenity, educational and environmental attractions.
